On Thursday, a crowd of protesters descended on the residence of former President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, voicing their discontent as part of the nationwide #EndBadGovernance movement.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The protest, which mirrored similar demonstrations across the country, saw outbreaks of violence in various states, leading to casualties and the imposition of curfews in at least three regions.<\/p>\n

The demonstrators, angered by the current economic challenges, attempted to breach the premises of Buhari\u2019s residence.<\/p>\n

They set bonfires and chanted “Bama yi! Bama yi! Bama yi!”\u2014a Hausa phrase meaning “we don\u2019t want”\u2014to express their dissatisfaction.<\/p>\n

In an effort to manage the situation, an individual from Buhari’s residence engaged with the protesters.<\/p>\n

This person proposed that the group appoint a representative to articulate their grievances, which would then be documented and conveyed to the former president.<\/p>\n

Following this exchange, the protesters redirected their march towards the palace of the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Farouk Umar Farouk.<\/p>\n

The attempt to disperse the crowd by security forces resulted in one protester being shot in the leg, yet the protest persisted.<\/p>\n
