Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for president, declared late on Friday that he had agreed to debate Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic opponent, on Fox News on September 4.<\/p>\n

On his Truth Social platform, Trump stated, “I have agreed with Fox News to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th.”<\/p>\n

It was unclear at first whether Harris had consented to the discussion.<\/p>\n

Shortly after the vice president accepted the Democratic Party’s nomination to run as the party’s nominee for president in November, Trump made his post.<\/p>\n

Trump’s attempt to win the presidency was derailed last month when 81-year-old President Joe Biden backed Harris in lieu of seeking reelection due to growing concerns about his age and declining polling numbers.<\/p>\n

He made the decision to step away after losing the CNN debate against Trump in June.<\/p>\n

On September 10, ABC was to host a second Trump-Biden debate. It was anticipated that Harris would replace Biden in that manner, but a Trump spokesman stated last week that it would be “inappropriate” to set up a debate before Harris had officially announced as the Democratic nominee.<\/p>\n

The 78-year-old Republican nominee had previously said he would not debate Harris, who is nearly two decades his junior, departing from political tradition.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last month, the former attorney general of California and prosecutor dared Trump to have a face-to-face debate with her.<\/div>\n

\u201cWell Donald, I do hope you\u2019ll reconsider meeting me on the debate stage, because as the saying goes, if you\u2019ve got something to say, say it to my face,\u201d Harris said at a campaign rally in Atlanta.<\/div>\n

According to Trump’s post, the debate will take place in Pennsylvania in front of a large audience and be mediated by Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier.<\/p>\n

Fox News has confirmed that there will be “spectators” at the debate, and it will adhere to the same guidelines as the CNN debate between Trump and Biden on June 27.<\/p>\n

The news channel announced that it had extended an invitation to Trump and Harris to take part in a September debate in Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n

\u201cI look forward to meeting and debating Kamala Harris on September 4th,\u201d Trump said, adding the date was<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cconvenient and appropriate\u201d as it comes just before the September 6 start of early voting for the presidential election.<\/span><\/p>\n
