{"id":141923,"date":"2024-08-05T11:07:57","date_gmt":"2024-08-05T10:07:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsdigest.ng\/?p=141923"},"modified":"2024-08-05T11:07:57","modified_gmt":"2024-08-05T10:07:57","slug":"ipman-links-protests-to-fuel-shortages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepublicpulse.ng\/?p=141923","title":{"rendered":"IPMAN Links Protests to Fuel Shortages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has attributed the recent increase in fuel queues at filling stations across major cities to ongoing protests over hunger and governance issues.<\/p>\n<p>Since last Thursday, Nigerians have been actively demonstrating under the #EndBadGovernance banner, demanding the reinstatement of fuel subsidies.<\/p>\n<p>These protests have resulted in at least fifteen deaths and property damage in several states, including Kano, Niger, Jigawa, Yobe, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the unrest, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu issued a broadcast on Sunday, urging protesters to halt their demonstrations and engage in dialogue with the government.<\/p>\n<p>While the outcome remains uncertain, oil marketers have pointed to the protests as the cause of the extended fuel queues.
