In 2024, there will be a seventh total system collapse, which in most cases would result in a complete blackout across the nation. The last time the grid failed and the nation went into complete darkness was on July 6, 2024.<\/p>\n
The electricity generated by the 22 generation companies peaked at 4,067.77MW and declined to its lowest at 823.5MW before the total dropped to 0.00, according to data on the Independent System Operators website.<\/p>\n
Afam IV & V generated the most electricity at 72.10 MW before it dropped to 0.00. Afam VI generated 382 MW before it dropped to 0.00. Azura-Edo IPP generated 419 MW before it dropped to 0.00. Dadinkowa generated 36.24 MW before it dropped to 0.00.<\/p>\n
Before dropping to 0.00, the following electricity generation levels were reached: 359 MW by the Delta Generation Company; 222 MW by Egbin Genco; 85 MW by Geregu (gas); 100 MW by Geregu NIPP; 68 MW by Ibom Power; and 103 MW by Ihovbor.<\/p>\n
In the period prior to the system collapse, Shiroro (Hydro) GenCo generated 340MW, Sapele (steam) generated 72MW, Rivers IPP generated 146MW, Paras energy (gas) generated 65MW, and Omotosho and Omuku both generated 137MW and 74MW.<\/p>\n
In addition, prior to the decline to 0.00, the following power plants produced 366 MW, 240 MW, 77 MW, 238 MW, 190 MW, and 105.80 MW, respectively: Jebba (hydro), Kainji (hydro), Odukpani NIPP (gas), Okpai (gas\/steam), Olorunsogo (gas), and Olorunsogo NIPP (gas).<\/p>\n
