{"id":142254,"date":"2024-08-08T17:06:29","date_gmt":"2024-08-08T16:06:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsdigest.ng\/?p=142254"},"modified":"2024-08-08T17:06:29","modified_gmt":"2024-08-08T16:06:29","slug":"nnpc-addresses-public-worries-after-explosion-at-lagos-fuel-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepublicpulse.ng\/?p=142254","title":{"rendered":"NNPC addresses public worries after explosion at Lagos fuel station"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A fuel station operated by Mobil near the Airport Hotel on Obaferni Awolowo Way in Ikeja, Lagos, exploded on Thursday, leading to alarm and distress among the local community.<\/p>\n<p>Many have theorized that the incident must have happened from a gas filling point, even though the specifics are still unclear at the time this report was filed.<\/p>\n<p>The fire, according to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, is unrelated to the compressed natural gas station that NNPC Gas Marketing Limited and NIPCO recently unveiled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe NNPC Ltd wishes to state that the reported explosion at a filling station in Ikeja, Lagos, has nothing to do with the recently commissioned NNPC Gas Marketing Ltd (NGML)\/NIPCO Compressed Natural Gas Stations, which are currently functioning and running safely without any incident,\u201d a statement by the NNPC spokesman, Olufemi Soneye said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the CNG station was not affected by the explosion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe NNPC Ltd also wishes to add that the NGML was not affected by the explosion; it is not involved in the activities of the affected station and all NGML facilities in Lagos, including pipelines, metering stations, above-ground installation and CNG facilities are in safe operating condition,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-container  margin-top margin-bottom \"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A fuel station operated by Mobil near the Airport Hotel on Obaferni Awolowo Way in Ikeja, Lagos, exploded on Thursday, leading to alarm and distress among the local community.
