Olabode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has voiced concerns over the Federal Government\u2019s transparency regarding fuel subsidy payments.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Following President Tinubu’s Sunday’s nationwide address where he defended the subsidy removal, George criticized the government’s lack of openness about the oil sector.<\/p>\n

In March 2024, former Bauchi State Governor Isa Yuguda claimed that fuel subsidies were still being paid, while Nasir El-Rufai, former Kaduna State Governor, reported increased subsidy costs.<\/p>\n

George questioned the government’s fluctuating subsidy claims and the truth behind them, emphasizing that Nigerians deserve clear information.<\/p>\n

He said:<\/p>\n

“In the oil sector, you hear there is subsidy today, tomorrow you will here there is no subsidy. We want to know what the truth is because Nigerians are not properly briefed as to what is happening in that sector. Subsidy, no subsidy, which one should we believe, where is the truth?<\/p>\n

\u201cMy perception of the oil sector of our country is very disappointing, who is the minister of petroleum?Mele Kyari made a statement on Wednesday,that is very worrisome. He said at the right time he would talk.Which is the right time?<\/p>\n

\u201cAs an elder statesman, I can\u2019t just keep quiet. We have a young generation and they are restless. They want to know what is happening. What is happening in the north is a reflection of the restlessness of the youths.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
