{"id":142303,"date":"2024-08-09T09:47:50","date_gmt":"2024-08-09T08:47:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsdigest.ng\/?p=142303"},"modified":"2024-08-09T09:47:50","modified_gmt":"2024-08-09T08:47:50","slug":"kano-government-files-new-n57-4-billion-fraud-charges-against-ganduje-and-associates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepublicpulse.ng\/?p=142303","title":{"rendered":"Kano Government Files New N57.4 Billion Fraud Charges Against Ganduje and Associates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Kano State Government has initiated a new fraud case against former Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, now APC National Chairman, along with his former Local Government Commissioner Murtala Sule Garo and two other individuals.<\/p>\n<p>The new charge, detailed in charge sheet No.K\/148c\/24, includes allegations of criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, false statements, and misappropriation of funds.<\/p>\n<p>The accused are alleged to have misappropriated N57.4 billion, which was intended for local government allocations.<\/p>\n<p>The funds were reportedly diverted through various accounts, including those of Local Government Cashiers, and were allegedly converted into cash in US Dollars and Nigerian Naira.<\/p>\n<p>The accused are said to have used these funds to purchase high-value properties, including a hotel in Abuja, commercial and residential properties in Dubai, and multiple filling stations in Kano.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecution plans to present evidence showing that from 2020 to 2023, the accused abused their positions for personal gain, causing significant loss to the state.
