The Lagos State Government is encouraging its youths to consider careers in the military and police force.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On August 8, 2024, the state launched a dual initiative aimed at increasing local youth recruitment into these sectors, coupled with an awareness campaign against human trafficking.<\/p>\n

At a seminar in Ikeja titled “Ignite: Sparkling Passion and Purpose,” Olugbenga Oyerinde, Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, addressed the significant drop in youth enrolment in the Nigerian Armed Forces and Police.<\/p>\n

He emphasized the importance of guiding young people in their career choices and highlighted the benefits of joining these prestigious institutions.<\/p>\n

Oyerinde noted various challenges facing youths, including unemployment and lack of access to small business loans, and stressed the government’s commitment to regular public engagement to address misconceptions about military careers.<\/p>\n

He also condemned the exploitation of Nigerians trafficked abroad under false pretenses and expressed a strong stance against drug abuse among the youth.<\/p>\n

The government\u2019s T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda, under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, aims to combat youth unemployment and support gender balance.<\/p>\n

Oyerinde urged students to capitalize on available public sector opportunities and promised continued quarterly awareness programs.<\/p>\n

Dr. Rauf Age-Sulaiman, Chairman of the House Committee on Special Duties, Intergovernmental Relations, and Central Business District, encouraged youth to pursue careers in the military and police, addressing concerns about recruitment difficulties and promising improvements.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
