The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has refuted claims circulating on social media that it is upgrading corps members\u2019 bank accounts to handle the new N70,000 national minimum wage.<\/p>\n
The Corps stated that it has not received any order from the appropriate authority to begin paying Corps members the N70,000 minimum wage or to upgrade their accounts.<\/p>\n
The NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, released a statement on Saturday that called the report completely false and misleading.<\/p>\n
Thus, the NYSC counseled corps members to stop enabling petty criminals who intend to deceive Nigerians to take advantage of their intelligence.<\/p>\n
The statement read, \u201cThe attention of National Youth Service Corps management has been drawn to misleading information circulating in the media regarding payment of N70,000 minimum wage to corps members and the directive to upgrade their accounts. This is an absolute falsehood which is far from the truth.<\/p>\n
\u201cCorps members, parents and members of the public should note that no directive has been received from the relevant sector of government responsible for wages matters.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is, therefore, impossible for the NYSC to issue any information on such. Corps members already know the approved channel and mode of communication in the scheme and should therefore ignore the directive accordingly.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe NYSC, by this release therefore admonishes corps members to desist from allowing mischief makers who are set to mislead Nigerians from continuing to play on their intelligence.<\/p>\n
