Three teenage girls tragically drowned in a pond located in the Buji Local Government Area of Jigawa State on Saturday.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The victims are Fatima Sule (12), Nasiya Sale (12), and Huwaila Sa\u2019adu (13), all from Tulla village.<\/p>\n

According to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa, the girls had gone to gather grass for their livestock near the pond when the unfortunate event occurred around 11:00 a.m.<\/p>\n

Local NSCDC officers were alerted by concerned community members at about 11:10 a.m., prompting a swift response involving divisional disaster management officers and local residents.<\/p>\n

The rescue team recovered the bodies of the three girls after a 30-minute search.<\/p>\n

The recovered bodies were immediately taken to the nearest health facility, where they were pronounced dead.<\/p>\n

An investigation indicated that the girls were cutting grass near the pond, which led to the drowning.<\/p>\n

The remains of the deceased were handed over to their families and have been buried according to Islamic customs<\/p>\n

The NSCDC commandant in Jigawa State, Muhammad Danjuma, expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and advised parents to closely monitor their children, especially near water bodies, to prevent such tragedies in the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
