Fortunately, there have been no reported deaths related to the case.<\/p>\n<p>The confirmed case is located in Isialangwa, and the state has established health centers, including at Abia State University Teaching Hospital, with plans to open additional facilities soon.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ngozi Azodo, Special Adviser on Health, detailed the state&#8217;s response, highlighting collaboration between the Ministries of Health, Environment, and Public Utilities.<\/p>\n<p>She mentioned the formation of a steering committee for infectious diseases and the state&#8217;s alignment with the Federal Government\u2019s \u201cOne-Health\u201d policy.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Azodo urged residents to practice good hygiene, minimize contact with animals, and avoid individuals with suspected Monkeypox.<\/p>\n<p>She also announced plans for the Ministry of Health to renovate and upgrade 200 Primary Healthcare Centres within 100 days, starting in the first week of September.<\/p>\n<p>The upgraded facilities are expected to be completed by December, described as a \u201cChristmas gift\u201d for Abians.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Abia State has confirmed its first case of Monkeypox, according to an announcement from the state government.
