Permanent Secretary Temitope Fashedemi unveiled the initiative, emphasizing its significance in creating a comprehensive database of farmers to facilitate effective agricultural planning and intervention.<\/p>\n

The partnership between the Ministry and NIMC leverages NIMC’s expertise in identity management to create a robust and reliable database, ensuring accurate data capture and management.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
A Technical Working Group (TWG) has been set up to oversee the implementation of the scheme, developing effective strategies for data capture and management, and designing robust data collection tools.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The goal is to ensure proper identification and support for farmers across Nigeria, investing in data-driven agriculture to achieve food security and empower farmers.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
NIMC’s Director of Card Management Services, Dr. Peter Iwegbu, assured that the collected data will be accurate, reliable, and secure, improving the lives of Nigerian farmers.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The federal government is also developing a web application to train farmers on best practices for different crops, addressing the low ratio of extension workers to farmers and ensuring easy access to guidance for farmers.<\/p>\n
