The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has undergone a leadership change, as the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) announced the dissolution of the current executive committee led by Austine Agada.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This decision was made on Wednesday, with the NWC appointing a seven-member caretaker committee to manage the party’s affairs for the next six months.<\/p>\n

The new committee is headed by Benjamin Omale as chairman and Prof. Bem Angwe as secretary. The remaining members are Richard Mzungweve, James Ornguga, Terhemen Ngbea, Helen Agaigbe, and Ali Francis Adah.<\/p>\n

This action follows a court order from the Benue High Court, which had earlier barred the APC from removing Agada and his team.<\/p>\n

The court’s directive, issued by Justice Theresa Igoche, prohibited the NWC from disbanding the existing executive committee before the end of their term.<\/p>\n

The APC’s internal strife in Benue has been marked by a power struggle between factions loyal to Governor Hyacinth Alia and those supporting the Agada-led committee.<\/p>\n

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, is among the prominent figures backing Agada, while Alia supports a rival faction led by Benjamin Omakolo.<\/p>\n

During the caretaker committee’s inauguration, the APC National Chairman expressed regret over the necessity of this measure but emphasized it was crucial for maintaining the party\u2019s unity.<\/p>\n

He spoke on the need for the new committee to focus on resolving ongoing disputes and preparing for upcoming local government elections.<\/p>\n
