Ahmad Rufai Abubakar, the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), has stepped down from his position.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He officially submitted his resignation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n

Following his meeting with the President, Abubakar explained that his resignation was driven by personal and family considerations, emphasizing that there were no major issues prompting his departure.<\/p>\n

He expressed his appreciation to President Tinubu for understanding his decision and highlighted the strong relationship they have built, which he expects to continue.<\/p>\n

Despite stepping down, Abubakar reassured that he remains deeply concerned about the security of the nation and will continue to monitor the situation closely.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on his tenure, Abubakar voiced his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the NIA for seven years, a role in which he took pride in mentoring younger officers.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the agency is well-prepared for the future, with many capable officers ready to take on leadership roles.<\/p>\n

President Tinubu, according to Abubakar, graciously accepted his resignation, which marks the end of a unique tenure during which he served under two different Presidents.<\/p>\n
