Rivers State has launched a new digitization process for land and building approvals, aimed at curbing land grabbing and fraud. The initiative, which covers the eight local council areas under the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority (GPHCDA), was unveiled on August 21, 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new system integrates Geographic Information System (GIS) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology, allowing for transparent and secure transactions related to land and building approvals. Tonte Davies, Acting Administrator of the GPHCDA, emphasized that the platform is user-friendly and designed to prevent fraudulent activities in land dealings.<\/span><\/p>\n

Governor Sim Fubara, represented by Commissioner for Housing Basoene J. Benibo, pledged full support for the initiative, citing its potential to enhance the Ease of Doing Business in Rivers State. The governor also noted that the system would streamline operations, reduce costs, and boost economic competitiveness.<\/span><\/p>\n
