The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted 60 jumbo bags of Ghanaian Loud, a potent type of cannabis, weighing 2,400 kg in Lagos.<\/span><\/p>\n The NDLEA Chairman, Buba Marwa, revealed this during a ceremony in Abuja where eight officers from the Marine Command were decorated with new ranks and received commendation letters. <\/span><\/p>\n The officers\u2014Dick Aaron Dick, Alabi Mayowa, Gabriel Ubokikwan, Aso Daniel John, Abdul Emmanuel Sule, Ngabolo Victor Sonpano, and Jonah Emmanuel Sule\u2014were recognized for their courage and professionalism during the operation.<\/span><\/p>\n Marwa praised the officers for their outstanding efforts, noting that this success underscores the agency’s ongoing commitment to tackling drug trafficking. <\/span><\/p>\n He highlighted that their special promotions and commendations were a reflection of their resilience and dedication in the face of challenges encountered during the mission to stop illicit drugs from entering Nigeria via the Lagos waterways.<\/span><\/p>\n Describing the operation, Marwa mentioned that the Special Marine Squad acted on reliable intelligence at 3 a.m. on August 23. They quickly mobilized and intercepted a boat near Alfa Beach in Lekki, Lagos. Another boat was also spotted during the operation.<\/span><\/p>\n “Despite some hostile encounters while intercepting the second boat, our officers remained focused and managed to seize the exhibits without losing composure,” Marwa said.<\/span><\/p>\n “They successfully confiscated 60 bags of Ghanaian Loud, weighing 2,400 kg, and arrested a suspect from Ghana.
