The Joint Association of Medical and Health Workers Union in Yobe State has called off its strike, which began on Friday, following a resolution with the state government.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The strike was initiated to demand the implementation of hazard allowances that were approved in 2019 but had not been fully applied to all unions.<\/p>\n

Satomi Hikama, Chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union in Yobe, informed Channels Television that after discussions with Deputy Governor Idi Barde-Gubana, an agreement was reached.<\/p>\n

This agreement stipulates that the hazard allowances will be paid by the end of September 2024.<\/p>\n

The strike aimed to address the uneven distribution of these allowances, which had only been provided to a few individuals despite a national directive during the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

With the government\u2019s commitment to settle the allowances by the specified date, the strike has been suspended.<\/p>\n

Governor Mai Mala Buni, through his Deputy Idi Barde-Gubana, has urged the workers to return to their duties, reaffirming that the payment of the allowances will be fulfilled by September 2024.<\/p>\n

The strike involved several unions, including the Association of Resident Doctors, the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria, the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwifery, the Medical and Health Workers Union, the Nigeria Society of Physiotherapists, and the Association of Radiographers of Nigeria.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
