Early Friday morning, gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram attacked Faudiya Islamic School in the Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State, killing three students, according to the Yobe State Police Command.<\/p>\n
The attack took place around 3:45 a.m., confirmed by Police spokesperson Dungus Abdulkarim. Armed with AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons, the attackers arrived on motorcycles and entered the school with the intent of abducting students.<\/p>\n
According to reports, they later decided to kill the students to avoid the difficulties of taking them into the forest.<\/p>\n
One student, who tried to flee, was injured and has been taken to the hospital for treatment. Abdulkarim explained, “The divisional police headquarters at Geidam received a report this morning from an individual about an attack on a school. We mobilized our personnel to the location, where they evacuated three bodies and rescued a student who had suffered a bullet wound.”<\/p>\n
He added that the attackers, about ten in number, chose to kill three of the students and injure another rather than abduct them. One of the surviving students reported that the gunmen stated their intention to kidnap them initially but opted for killing to avoid the challenge of transporting them.<\/p>\n
