Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, on Saturday, visited flood-ravaged communities in Gummi Local Government Area to assess the damage and provide relief.<\/p>\n

He announced a donation of N100 million to support the victims, as stated in a release from the Governor\u2019s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Numerous communities experienced severe flooding as a result of the heavy rainfall, which submerged many homes.<\/p>\n

The statement mentioned that the first stop on Governor Lawal’s visit was the palace of Gummi’s Emir, His Royal Highness, Justice Lawal Hassan.<\/p>\n

Additionally, he visited Gummi town and offered condolences to the flood victims before moving on to Gayari town to assess the degree of damage.<\/p>\n

He said that in order to create a long-term solution, an engineering team had already surveyed the area.<\/p>\n

According to Governor Lawal, \u201cToday, I am in Gummi Local Government Area to offer my condolences and conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the communities devastated by flooding caused by heavy rainfall last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cImmediately I learned about the unfortunate incident, I sent two of my commissioners to visit and offer condolences to the affected communities. After the Deputy Governor\u2019s visit, I dispatched a team of engineers to examine and evaluate the root causes of the flooding.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important to note that I have instructed the immediate commencement of work to prevent such a situation in the future. I want to take this opportunity to inform you that I have donated 10,000 bags of food, including rice, maize, and millet, to be distributed among the flood victims.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am also, on behalf of the Zamfara State Government, supporting the affected victims with N100 million.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn addition, all affected victims will be allocated land away from the danger zone so that they can build new houses.\u201d<\/p>\n
