IMF\/W\u2019Bank Meeting: Edun to lead FG’s delegation, canvass support for Nigeria<\/p>\n
As the world faces a host of intertwined challenges- from climate change, pandemics, fragility, geo-political tensions, to debt distress- leaders of fiscal and Monetary Authorities are gathered in Washington DC for the annual meeting to discuss the impact, speed, scale and efficiency of measures to arrest the situation.<\/p>\n

The 2024 Annual Meetings will take place in Washington, D.C. from Monday, October 21 to Saturday, October 26, with the main ministerial meetings and events taking place between October 22-25.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Leader of Nigerian delegation, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, is expected to push for global support for Nigeria\u2019s economic reforms<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The Minister is also headlining a flagship event titled: \u201cWomen Transforming the World,\u201d to be hosted by the World Bank President, Ajay Banga.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He will also be leading the African caucus\u2019 effort at mainstreaming the concerted call for strengthening Africa\u2019s resilience to surmount the multi-faceted challenges facing the continent.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He is quoted as saying, \u201cCountries\u2019 domestic adjustment policy efforts and structural reform agendas stand to yield better outcomes if accompanied by access to adequate and affordable financing.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) would also be hosting an event on the sideline titled, \u201cStrengthening ties with Nigerians Abroad: A conversation with Yemi Cardoso, Governor, CBN.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The event is expected to detail the apex bank\u2019s bold reforms and how the Diasporans can key into it especially in the renewed bid to attract more remittances.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The IMF analytical corner will also be a regular feature with themes such as, \u2018the Clock is ticking: Meeting Sub-Saharan Africa\u2019s Urgent Job Creation Challenge\u2019; \u2018How Do Governance Reforms Promote Economic Growth and Social Inclusion\u2019; \u2018Harnessing Renewables in Sub-Saharan Africa: Barriers to Reforms and Economic Prospects.\u2019<\/p>\n
