{"id":145376,"date":"2024-11-05T17:23:08","date_gmt":"2024-11-05T16:23:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepublicpulse.ng\/?p=145376"},"modified":"2024-11-05T17:23:08","modified_gmt":"2024-11-05T16:23:08","slug":"court-strikes-out-charges-against-minors-arrested-during-hardship-protests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepublicpulse.ng\/?p=145376","title":{"rendered":"Court strikes out charges against minors arrested during hardship protests"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">Court strikes out charges against minors arrested during hardship protests<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In a significant victory for human rights and justice, the Federal High Court in Abuja has today discharged and acquitted 71 teenagers from Kano State who were arrested in connection with the EndBadGovernance protest in August 2024.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">These young individuals, who were accused of treasonable felony after being found with Russian flags, have been cleared of all charges.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has been unwavering in his commitment to securing the release of the teenagers, vowing to pursue all legal avenues to ensure their freedom.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In a statement, issued by governor\u2019s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, governor Yusuf expressed gratitude for the collective efforts of human rights advocates, including renowned lawyer Femi Falana SAN, and others who fought tirelessly to secure the minors\u2019 release.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThe Federal Government has today withdrawn the treason charges against the minors, who were primarily from Kano State.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThis is a victory for justice and human dignity,\u201d said Barr.
