{"id":145831,"date":"2025-04-03T07:43:59","date_gmt":"2025-04-03T06:43:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepublicpulse.ng\/?p=145831"},"modified":"2025-04-03T07:43:59","modified_gmt":"2025-04-03T06:43:59","slug":"bandits-release-ex-nysc-boss-after-spending-56-days-in-captivity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepublicpulse.ng\/?p=145831","title":{"rendered":"Bandits release ex-NYSC boss after spending 56 days in captivity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">Bandits release ex-NYSC boss after spending 56 days in captivity<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Brigadier-General Maharazu Tsiga (rtd), former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has been released after spending 56 days in captivity.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">PRNigeria reports that Tsiga was abducted on February 5, 2025, from his hometown in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, alongside nine other residents by bandits.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Despite his family paying a ransom, his captors held him for additional weeks before finally releasing him.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Reports suggest conflicting figures regarding the ransom amount, with some claiming N60m was paid.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">However Daily Trust said reliable sources indicate the actual sum was three times higher.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">A family member disclosed that after the payment, the kidnappers remained silent for a week before allowing Tsiga to speak with his family.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Although the abductors later demanded additional funds, no further payment was made.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Tsiga was eventually freed and is reportedly in good condition.
