The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has dismissed concerns over former Vice President Atiku Abubakar\u2019s recent visit to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, saying the APC remains unshaken and focused on strengthening its base.<\/p>\n
Speaking while briefing journalists shortly after leading a delegation of APC stakeholders to meet with Buhari at his Kaduna residence, Ganduje stated that their visit was to brief the former president on the party\u2019s progress since his exit from office and to reaffirm their commitment to upholding his legacy.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are not worried at all. We came to pay our respects to the former president and also to update him on the achievements of our great party since his departure. We assured him that we would continue to keep him informed regularly,\u201d Ganduje said.<\/p>\n
Reacting to Atiku\u2019s earlier visit to Buhari widely interpreted as a possible alignment of political interests, Ganduje said APC is on a solid path.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat visit is of no concern to us. It\u2019s just another attempt at repeating history, but it won\u2019t work. What they are trying to build is not viable. Some particles simply cannot come together,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
While avoiding specifics, the APC chairman hinted at strategic plans to counter any opposition moves, assuring the public that the ruling party remains well-prepared.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe won\u2019t disclose our intricacies or technicalities, but we are equal to the task. The progress President Tinubu has made is strengthening the party even further,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Ganduje also emphasized the APC\u2019s ambitions beyond the 21 states it currently governs, expressing confidence that the party would win over additional states either through defections or future elections.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome governors may join us, or we may defeat them at the polls. Either way, we are expanding our reach. We\u2019re comfortable with where we are, but we are not resting on our oars.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBigwigs from other parties are joining us. The few who left don\u2019t matter in the bigger picture,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
On criticisms regarding alleged skewness in federal appointments under President Tinubu, Ganduje insisted that appointments were being fairly distributed and the party is compiling data to demonstrate equity.<\/p>\n
\u201cAppointments are dynamic. Over time, you will see balance. We are working on statistics to show there\u2019s no bias in the president\u2019s appointments,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
