Breaking News: 19 confirmed dead as team Kano contingent bus from Abeokuta crashes<\/p>\n
Up to 19-members of the Team Kano contingent, who participated in the just concluded 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF), have been reported dead on their way back to base from Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.<\/p>\n
According to reports, the bus carrying most of the contingents crashed about 50 kilometres to Kano after passing Kaduna State.<\/p>\n
The Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Umar Fagge, who confirmed the incident, said many other athletes sustained various degree of injuries following the fatal accident on Saturday.<\/p>\n
“As I am talking to you now, we have counted 19 dead bodies,\u201d Fagge said.<\/p>\n
Some athletes, officials, and journalists were reportedly among those who lost their lives.<\/p>\n
