NYCN Applauds Tinubu\u2019s Peace Deal in Rivers, Seeks Reinstatement of Fubara, Lawmakers<\/p>\n
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his decisive intervention in reconciling the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike.<\/p>\n
In a statement signed by NYCN President and Secretary of the Board of Trustees, Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, the youth council said the President\u2019s mediation has opened a new chapter of peace and development in the oil-rich state.<\/p>\n
While commending the President\u2019s leadership in averting a prolonged political crisis, the NYCN urged him to take a further unifying step by facilitating the full reinstatement of Governor Fubara and all lawmakers affected by the political dispute.<\/p>\n
\u201cBy personally brokering peace between these two influential sons of Rivers State, President Tinubu has once again proven himself to be a leader driven by genuine commitment to peace, security, and prosperity across Nigeria,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n
According to Amb. Sukubo, the truce presents a critical opportunity for all political actors and youths in Rivers State to embrace dialogue, unity, and mutual respect.<\/p>\n
He stated, \u201cThis reconciliation is not only significant for political stability but also vital for the wellbeing of the people. Rivers State, as a major contributor to Nigeria\u2019s economy through its oil and gas sector, must not be allowed to sink into unnecessary political unrest. The return of peace should now translate into tangible development in every part of the state.\u201d<\/p>\n
The NYCN emphasized that the reconciliation must be followed by inclusive governance, stating that with stability restored, public resources can now be channeled towards infrastructure, job creation, and youth empowerment.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is our strong belief that President Tinubu\u2019s intervention has placed Rivers State back on the path of inclusive development and responsible leadership,\u201d Sukubo added.<\/p>\n
To solidify the peace, the NYCN called on the President to ensure the full reinstatement of Governor Fubara and the affected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly. The group believes this move will symbolize true reconciliation and allow the governor to continue delivering on his mandate to the people.<\/p>\n
Amb. Sukubo also stressed the importance of a united legislature in driving effective policy implementation, which he said is crucial for restoring public trust in governance.<\/p>\n
The youth council reaffirmed its readiness to work with both federal and state governments to promote peace and development through constructive engagement and conflict resolution.<\/p>\n
