PDP Crisis Worsens as Police Seal Wadata Plaza, Block NEC Meeting<\/p>\n
The internal crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took a dramatic turn on Monday morning as armed police officers sealed off the party\u2019s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, in Abuja, effectively halting a scheduled National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.<\/p>\n
Tension flared as members of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), including Maina Chiroma, were denied access to the premises. The BoT meeting was meant to precede the party\u2019s expanded caucus session. However, security operatives stationed at the gate barred entry, citing undisclosed “orders from above.”<\/p>\n

Former PDP National Secretary, Umar Tsauri, who addressed journalists at the scene, confirmed that the BoT members were stopped by police officers acting on directives from higher authorities.<\/p>\n

The situation escalated when police officers not only blocked entry to the NEC hall but also asked party staff who had earlier been allowed into the building to vacate the premises. Journalists were equally ordered to leave.<\/p>\n

A senior party official, who spoke anonymously to Channels Television, alleged that the security deployment was specifically intended to thwart the scheduled NEC Expanded Caucus Meeting.<\/p>\n

Outside the plaza, a number of officers were seen cordoning off Dalaba Street\u2014the main road leading to the PDP headquarters\u2014heightening the sense of lockdown and intensifying the political standoff.<\/p>\n
