Arewa Voters Forum Slams AEC, Says Atiku Represents Hope, Not a ‘Disgruntled Seeker’<\/p>\n
The Arewa Voters Forum (AVF) has fired back at the Arewa Empowerment Coalition (AEC) following what it described as a \u201cbarrage of ill-conceived attacks\u201d and \u201cunguarded insults\u201d against former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and other key political figures over the proposed formation of the All Democratic Alliance (ADA).<\/p>\n
In a press statement signed by AVF\u2019s National Team Leader, Comrade Idrith Ibrahim Unguwar Gini, and released to journalists, the group condemned the AEC\u2019s characterization of Atiku and his allies as \u201cdisgruntled power seekers,\u201d calling the remarks divisive, inflammatory, and a disservice to democratic discourse.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile we respect the constitutional rights of all citizens to express political opinions, we strongly condemn the uncouth and poisonous language used by the AEC, which dishonors the democratic principles we all cherish,\u201d AVF stated.<\/p>\n
The forum reaffirmed its full support for Atiku Abubakar, describing him as a seasoned statesman with unmatched political experience and a bold national vision. \u201cAtiku is not just a candidate; he is a symbol of hope, a bridge between our painful past and a prosperous future,\u201d the statement added. \u201cHis blueprint is rooted in unity, restructuring, and economic revitalization.\u201d<\/p>\n
Contrary to the \u201cfearmongering and name-calling\u201d allegedly being promoted by AEC, AVF said the former Vice President offers Nigerians a \u201cbold, inclusive, and forward-looking alternative\u201d where every citizen\u2014regardless of region or religion\u2014has a voice.<\/p>\n
The AVF also rejected what it described as attempts to paint Northern Nigeria as a monolithic political bloc, stating that the North has always been known for its \u201cvibrant political diversity, critical thinking, and deep-rooted democratic values.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNo group has the authority to dictate who should run or who should not. Attempts to delegitimize Atiku Abubakar\u2019s democratic ambition are not only futile but also anti-people, anti-progress, and anti-democracy,\u201d the forum emphasized.<\/p>\n
Calling for a shift towards issue-based politics, the group urged all political stakeholders, including the AEC, to uphold mutual respect, truth, and patriotism in their engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n
