Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday in London.<\/p>\n
Speaking from Abeokuta, Ogun State, Obasanjo described Buhari as a dedicated patriot who served Nigeria diligently as a soldier, administrator, and statesman.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith a heavy heart, I received the news this afternoon of the passing of my colleague, comrade, and fellow patriot, General Muhammadu Buhari,\u201d Obasanjo said. \u201cAs a soldier, he played his role. As an administrator, he fulfilled his duties. And as a statesman, he stood tall in service to the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Obasanjo noted that Buhari\u2019s death comes at a time when Nigeria most needs the wisdom and experience of its past leaders to navigate the prevailing national challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis demise comes at a time like this when we need the totality of experience\u2014and what I may call the statesmanship\u2014of all those who have led this country to help steer us out of the current crisis,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
