Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ending a decades-long association with the party he helped to build.<\/p>\n
In a letter he addressed to the Chairman of the PDP in his Jada 1 Ward, Jada LGA, Adamawa State,
\ndated July 14, 2025
\nAtiku said he was quitting the party with immediate effect, citing irreconcilable differences and a deviation from the party\u2019s founding principles.<\/p>\n
He expressed \u201cprofound gratitude\u201d for the opportunities PDP gave him over the years, especially his two-term tenure as Vice President and two presidential runs under the party\u2019s platform.<\/p>\n
Atiku, while wishing the party and its leadership well, concluded, \u201cThank you once again for the opportunities and support.\u201d<\/p>\n
