In Kano, Tinubu Pays Tribute to Late Aminu Dantata, Hails His Life of Integrity, Service, and Generosity<\/p>\n
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday paid a heartfelt condolence visit to the family of the late Alhaji Aminu Dantata in Kano, describing the renowned industrialist and elder statesman as a beacon of integrity, humility, and selfless service to humanity.<\/p>\n
Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who died at the age of 94 on June 28, 2025, in Dubai, was buried in Madina, Saudi Arabia, on July 1, 2025.<\/p>\n
During his visit, President Tinubu said the passing of Dantata was a personal loss, noting that the late business mogul was not only a national figure but also \u201cpart of my family.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a deeply personal visit for me. I came to condole with the Dantata family and the good people of Kano. He was not just a respected figure; he was part of my family,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n
President Tinubu fondly recalled how he sought Alhaji Dantata\u2019s blessings and prayers ahead of the 2023 presidential election, highlighting the elder statesman\u2019s simplicity and sincerity.<\/p>\n
\u201cI promised to come back and thank him, but instead of me visiting, he came to Abuja. That was the kind of man he was\u2014humble, simple, and sincere,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He praised Dantata\u2019s life of compassion and philanthropy, describing him as someone whose presence brought comfort to others.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf friendship and goodwill continue into the hereafter, Dantata will be there in the marketplace, feeding the hungry and comforting the sick. He gave so much of himself to the service of our country and its people,\u201d Tinubu added.<\/p>\n
The President extended condolences to the Dantata family, the government and people of Kano State, and the entire nation, praying that Allah grants the deceased Aljannah Firdaus.<\/p>\n
Speaking on behalf of the Kano State Government, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf expressed profound appreciation to President Tinubu for his consistent support during the mourning period. He noted that the President had earlier dispatched a high-powered federal delegation to Saudi Arabia, led by the Minister of Defence, to attend the burial rites of the late elder statesman.<\/p>\n
Governor Yusuf, who also led a state delegation to Medina alongside his Jigawa State counterpart, praised the President\u2019s efforts in facilitating diplomatic support from authorities in Saudi Arabia and Dubai.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe entire process was seamless and successful, thanks to your leadership and support. For this, we remain grateful,\u201d the Governor said.<\/p>\n
He also acknowledged the earlier visits of Vice President Kashim Shettima and other federal officials who had extended condolences on behalf of the President.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe pray Allah (SWT) grant our father and elder statesman eternal rest. We also pray for your continued strength and good health, so that you may continue to deliver on your commitment to building a better Nigeria,\u201d Governor Yusuf stated.<\/p>\n
On behalf of the family, Alhaji Tajudeen Aminu Dantata, the eldest son of the deceased, expressed deep appreciation to President Tinubu for honoring their father both in life and in death.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have demonstrated closeness with him while he was alive, and even in his death, you have proven that he was a dear brother and friend. We witnessed your relationship with him before you became President,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He assured the President that the family would uphold the values and legacy of their late patriarch and prayed for President Tinubu\u2019s success in leading the nation.<\/p>\n
Dignitaries who accompanied the President on the condolence visit included Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Minister of Women Affairs Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Minister of State for the FCT Mariya Mahmud, Minister of State for Education Suwaiba Said Ahmad, and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Yusuf Abdullahi Ata.<\/p>\n
