In Abuja, Man Commits Suicide Over N507,500 Gambling Debt<\/p>\n
A young man identified as Stephen Chidubem tragically took his own life on Wednesday at his residence on Abba Street, behind the Anglican Church in Saburi 2, Abuja, following mounting gambling debts.<\/p>\n
Sources revealed that Chidubem was found hanging from a ceiling fan with a rope, in what is suspected to be a case of suicide linked to financial distress caused by a gambling addiction.<\/p>\n
Emergency responders were called to the scene and evacuated the body to Kubwa General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor. His remains have since been deposited at the hospital\u2019s mortuary for autopsy.<\/p>\n
A suicide note found at the scene shed light on the deceased\u2019s struggles. In the note, Chidubem apologized to those he owed money and expressed remorse for the pain his actions may have caused. The note specifically mentioned a debt of \u20a6507,500 and included instructions for settling it.<\/p>\n
It read in part: \u201cSorry to everyone who cared. I can\u2019t continue putting people in trouble because of my gambling addiction. Please forgive me Elvis, Paul, and all I\u2019m owing. And you, Bishop Andy Ero, give the balance of \u20a6507,500 to Elvis or Paul.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sources close to the deceased disclosed that Chidubem had been battling a serious gambling addiction, which plunged him into significant debt and emotional turmoil.<\/p>\n
