The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a four-man gang notorious for snatching phones and tricycles along the Awka and Ifite axis, a hotspot where unsuspecting residents, particularly students, have often fallen victim.<\/p>\n
Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that operatives of the Rapid Response Squad carried out the arrest during a patrol in the early hours of Monday.<\/p>\n

Recovered items from the suspects include nine mobile phones \u2014 among them an iPhone traced to a victim \u2014 a laptop, two tricycles with registration numbers LSD 464 QP and BLF 552 VH, four additional tricycle plate numbers, and substances suspected to be hard drugs.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, the suspects \u2014 identified as Nnaji Chidera (19), Chijioke Mmaduabuchi (21), Wisdom Ogbonna (19), and Afamefuna Egbe (20) \u2014 were intercepted during a night patrol along the Agu Awka\/Ifite corridor. Upon interrogation, they confessed to being members of a syndicate that targets students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University and disguises their vehicles with multiple tricycle plate numbers during operations.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the operatives for their swift response.
