FG To Empower Farmers with Capital, Credit Access for Robust Agricultural Ecosystem<\/p>\n

The Federal Government has expressed its readiness to partner with Nigerian farmers by providing an enabling environment, supportive policies, access to capital, and credit, aimed at fostering a robust agricultural ecosystem and assisting them to generate sustainable income<\/p>\n
Minister for Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari gave the assurance recently in his office when he received
\na delegation from Amana Farmers and Grains Supplies Association of Nigeria (AFGSAN), led by its Chairman, Alhaji Haruna Ahmed Fanbeguwa.<\/p>\n
He noted that the move which is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration, aims to ensure Food Sovereignty, Economic Diversification and enhance the income of farmers in the country.<\/p>\n
Kyari highlighted that robust collaboration and partnership with farmer associations like AFGSAN would ensure that the country achieves its goal of food sovereignty and economic growth.<\/p>\n
According to him, \u2018\u2019We need the private sector, and you are the major drivers of the economy. The government provides policy and support for the private sector to thrive and ensure economic diversification\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n
“The Ministry has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigeria National Identity Management Commission, (NNIMC), to come up with an authentic farmer and farmland registry<\/p>\n
“We are going to implement the pilot phase in Nasarawa state, where we will identify farmlands that are cultivated. You will see a farmland that is cultivated and also the farmer cultivating that farmland\u2019\u2019. Kyari emphasized.<\/p>\n
In a statement by the Ministry’s Head, Department of Information, Ezeaja Ikemefuna, he urged AFGSAN and other credible associations to collaborate with the Ministry in registering genuine farmers.<\/p>\n
The Minister pointed out that \u2018\u2019the Ministry will ensure that government interventions in the Agriculture sector will get to the intended farmers, not the farmer by name, but the farmer who cultivates and produce crops for Nigeria\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the Chairman, Amana Farmers and Grain Supplies Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Haruna Ahmed Fanbeguwa, stated that the Association would continue to support and collaborate with the Ministry in all its activities, particularly in the implementation of laudable projects of sustainable agriculture in the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
