Cleaner who returned N4.8m rewarded with N2.5m<\/p>\n
A cleaner, Faiza Abdulkadir, who returned N4.8 million credited to her bank account by mistake has got a N2.5 million gift from a \u201cgood Samaritan\u201d.<\/p>\n
The president of Da\u2019awah Wal Irshaad Women Organisation, Borno State, Aisha Muhammad Aisami, presented the N2.5 million cheque to her in Maiduguri, on Monday.<\/p>\n
She said the donor, who preferred not to be mentioned, read the story on Daily Trust Newspaper and reached out to the organization to find the woman and reward her.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe, therefore, present this cheque of N2.5 million to Faiza Abdulkadir, on behalf of our donor, who saw what she did, when somebody mistakenly sent N4.8 million into her account and returned the money.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDaily Trust newspaper carried the story, and it\u2019s widely spread and the donor saw it. He is not from Borno State, he only read the story and sent the donations through us.<\/p>\n
\u201cMay Allah SWT make her steadfast in what she did and reward the donor and all those who donated to her,\u201d she said<\/p>\n
Responding, Faiza thanked the donor and the Da\u2019awa organization that facilitated the donation, while calling on people to fear God and stick to the boundaries.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you fear God, anything that doesn\u2019t belong to you would not attract you. We should always prepare for eternal life, hereafter, not to be deceived by the worldly gains that are temporary,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Fauza is working at University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, and survives on N30,000 salary, taking the responsibility of her five children and aged mother.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Borno State first Lady, Dr Falmata Babagana Zulum, presented Faiza a cash gift of N1millon, with food items and vocational skills equipment from the state government.<\/p>\n
Also, the state Commissioner of Women Affairs, Zuwaira Gambo, described her action as very rare considering her financial challenges.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a rare and inspiring display of integrity, which shows that honesty is not determined by wealth but character,\u201d said Gambo.<\/p>\n
Seven days ago, Faiza, a resident of Gwange, Zawiyya of Sheikh Ibrahim Saleh, received the N4.8 million alert mistakenly transferred to her account from an unknown person in Kebbi State.<\/p>\n
The money owner reached out to her and provided his account details and Faiza went to the bank and credited his account.<\/p>\n
Faiza said she decided to return the money because of the fear of God.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe money does not belong to me. I returned it to have a peace of mind, and avoid God\u2019s punishment on the day of judgement,\u201d she said<\/p>\n
Banks officials and residents described Faiza as a very honest woman who lived on N30,000 salary.
