Generator fumes kill couple, four children in Rivers<\/p>\n
The Rivers State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a family of six, including both parents, who allegedly died after inhaling fumes from a generator set in Ogale community, Eleme Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n
It was gathered that the generator ran throughout the night and into Sunday morning before neighbours raised the alarm.<\/p>\n
A source in the community, who pleaded anonymity, said the family had been preparing to return to Port Harcourt after the holidays before the tragedy occurred.<\/p>\n
The source said, \u201cThey were found dead in various positions. It is a very unfortunate incident and we are calling on the police to do a proper investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n
The incident was first reported by a Facebook user, Destiny John, who wrote: \u201cA black Sunday indeed six died on the spot.<\/p>\n
How will I explain to you all that all this family died on a spot in Ogale today. No sickness, Oh God let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end\u201d.<\/p>\n
When contacted, the spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Iringe-Koko said, \u201cYes I can confirm the incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom information I got the generator was inside the living room because they were afraid it would be stolen.<\/p>\n
