FG Charges Health Regulatory Bodies to Step Up Regulation, Clamp Down on Quackery<\/p>\n
The Federal Government has called on health regulatory bodies in the country to step up regulation and enforcement in the sector so as to promote quality healthcare for all citizens<\/p>\n
The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako made the call today at the Commissioning of the South East Zonal Office of the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) in Enugu<\/p>\n
According to a statement by the Asst Director, Information and Public Relations in the Ministry, he emphasized that the move would help curb quackery and improve standards of practice.<\/p>\n
Dr. Salako noted that in recognition of the critical roles being played by the health regulatory bodies, the present Administration on assumption of office, reversed a previous decision to stop budgetary funding for all professional regulatory bodies, for the health sector, giving them an edge over their peers in other fields of human endeavour<\/p>\n
The Minister charged the RRBN to reciprocate this gesture by showing commitment to duty, prioritizing patients’ welfare, maintaining high standards, and clamping down on all forms of malpractice in the sector<\/p>\n
He assured the Radiographers of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to the Board in view of the strategic role it plays in ensuring quality healthcare in the country<\/p>\n
While stressing government determination to push out quackery and other malpractices, the Minister stated that “It is my hope that this Zonal Office being commissioned today will enhance access to registration, licensing, compliance, and continuing professional development for practitioners in the Southeast and neighboring regions.”<\/p>\n
Dr. Salako commended the Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his unwavering support to the sector and assured that the Ministry will continue to work with the State in the provision of essential, preventive and curative health services to the people<\/p>\n
He further acknowledged the Registrar, RRBN, Prof. Mark Chukwudi Okeji and his team for making the project come through, announcing that provision has been made in the 2026 budget proposal for the Project completion and furnishing so that it can become functional soon<\/p>\n
He added that “the Commissioning of the South East Zonal Office of the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria is a landmark addition to our shared commitment to elevate the standard of radiography practice and patient care across Nigeria in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
