<\/p>\nNew Era for Innovation Commercialisation as FG Concludes ECoN Programme in Kano<\/p>\n
The Federal Government has concluded the North West leg of the Energise Commercialisation Now (ECoN) initiative in Kano, signalling a new era in Nigeria\u2019s drive to convert research outputs and homegrown innovations into viable enterprises.<\/p>\n
Declaring the three-day programme closed, the Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Udeh stated that ECoN has successfully reinforced government\u2019s commitment to building a knowledge-driven, innovation-led economy.<\/p>\n
Dr. Udeh stressed that the conclusion of the Kano forum is not an end but the beginning of a new phase of action, where ideas developed through research and innovation must be translated into businesses capable of driving economic growth and job creation nationwide.<\/p>\n

The Minister reaffirmed the Ministry\u2019s resolve to sustain momentum by strengthening policy frameworks, deepening investment in innovation ecosystems, and supporting innovators to scale their solutions.<\/p>\n
In a statement by the Ministry’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Pauline Sule, he described Kano State as a strategic hub for innovation and enterprise development in Northern Nigeria.<\/p>\n
Dr. Udeh expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his visionary leadership and unwavering support in bringing the ECoN initiative to fruition.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Mukhtar Yawale Muhammad, disclosed that the success of ECoN requires a collective national effort. He urged state governments to create enabling environments and foster stronger collaboration between universities, research institutions, and investors to drive innovation from ideation to full commercialisation.<\/p>\n
In his closing remarks on behalf of the State, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Umar Faruk Ibrahim, described ECoN as a strategic platform for advancing sustainable economic development. He noted that the initiative will strengthen collaboration between the Federal Government, States, and key stakeholders, and commended the Ministry as well as the Northwest Governors Forum for their commitment to the programme\u2019s success.<\/p>\n
