FG Commissions Expanded Abuja Warehouse to Boost National Health Supply Chain<\/p>\n
The Federal Government has commissioned the expanded Abuja Premier Warehouse, a key national health logistics facility designed to boost the storage and distribution of essential medicines, vaccines, and public health commodities across Nigeria.<\/p>\n
The facility complements 22 Central Medical Warehouses in 21 states supported by the Global Fund to improve healthcare delivery nationwide.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on behalf of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Daju Kachollom S., mni, reaffirmed government\u2019s commitment to strengthening commodity security, expanding storage capacity, and ensuring efficient distribution of life-saving health products.<\/p>\n
Prof. Pate described the project as a major milestone. He said the expansion, whose foundation was laid in April 2025, will improve the efficiency of Nigeria\u2019s health supply chain by ensuring medicines, vaccines, and other essential commodities are stored and delivered to health facilities in optimal condition.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe expanded warehouse will serve as a strategic national asset, improve logistics efficiency, increase storage capacity, and support ongoing reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda,\u201d he said. He assured stakeholders that government would provide the resources needed to maintain the facility and ensure its sustainability.<\/p>\n
Prof. Pate thanked the Global Fund for its support and acknowledged contributions from UNICEF, WHO, the U.S. Government, the Gates Foundation, the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM), the Department of Food and Drug Services, the Department of Public Health, Land Designs Limited, and other partners.<\/p>\n
\u201cTheir support goes beyond infrastructure to advancing equity, access, and excellence in healthcare delivery,\u201d he said. He called for continued collaboration to ensure equitable access to quality healthcare for all Nigerians.<\/p>\n
He added that the commissioning shows what can be achieved through partnerships, innovation, and collective determination.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis facility will contribute significantly to Nigeria\u2019s journey toward Universal Health Coverage and enhanced national health security,\u201d Pate said.<\/p>\n
Representing the Permanent Secretary, Daju Kachollom, the Director of Food and Drugs Services, Dr. Olufowobi Yusuf-Adeola described the expansion as a game-changer for Nigeria\u2019s healthcare system. She thanked the Global Fund and acknowledged stakeholders present, including USAID, WHO, CHAI, IHVN, GHSC-PSM, MEBS, CRS, CIPS, SOLINA, NCDC, NACA, AKESIS, C4SD, Gates Foundation, SWAp, MEDIPOOL, PVAC, MSH, DP World, and MDAs.<\/p>\n
According to Ado Bako, Assistant Director, Information and Public Relations, goodwill messages were delivered by WHO Country Representative Dr. Pavel Ursu and Global Fund Executive Director Peter Sands, both of whom commended the partnership and stressed the need for sustained investment in supply chains.<\/p>\n
