CAF 69: African Tourism Leaders Pledge to Strengthen Human Capital for Continental Growth<\/p>\n
In a bid to position tourism as a driver of economic growth, the Honourable Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, _Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa<\/i>_, joined other Tourism Ministers, Senior Officials and Industry Stakeholders at the _69th Meeting of the UN Tourism Regional Commission for Africa (CAF)<\/i>_ to reaffirm their commitment to strengthening human capital to boost Africa’s tourism growth and chart a way forward.<\/p>\n
The meeting recently took place in _Victoria, Mah\u00e9, Republic of Seychelles<\/i>_, hosted by the Government of Seychelles in collaboration with UN Tourism.<\/p>\n
It ran alongside a Thematic Conference on _\u201cStrengthening Human Capital to Boost Africa\u2019s Tourism Growth\u201d<\/i>_ focused on building a skilled and competitive tourism workforce across the continent.<\/p>\n
According to a statement by\u00a0 FMACTCE’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Amadi Uloma, this marked the first CAF meeting convened under the new _UN Tourism Secretary-General, Shaikha Al Nuwais<\/i>_, who assumed office in January 2026.<\/p>\n
In the absence of Zambia, the Chair, _Nigeria in its capacity as 1st Vice-Chair presided over the proceedings<\/i>_, in line with the precedent set at the 68th meeting in Abuja.<\/p>\n
The gathering brought together tourism ministers, senior officials, and industry stakeholders from across Africa to advance the region\u2019s shared tourism agenda. Discussions focused on _capacity-building, connectivity, visa facilitation, digital infrastructure, and leveraging tourism for inclusive economic growth<\/i>_.<\/p>\n
