INFRASTRUCTURE RENEWAL PROGRAMME: FG FLAGS OFF OSOGBO-AKODA-
\nGBONGAN, OSOGBO-IWO-IBADAN ROADS RECONSTRUCTION<\/p>\n
The Federal Government has flagged off the reconstruction of the Osogbo\u2013Akoda\u2013Gbongan and Osogbo\u2013Iwo\u2013Ibadan Roads in Osun and Oyo States as part of the Infrastructure Renewal Programme under the Renewed Hope Agenda.`<\/p>\n
The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, performed the ground-breaking ceremony in Osogbo on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu<\/p>\n
Mr. Oyetola said the projects are critical to enhancing connectivity, improving road safety and stimulating socio-economic activities in the South-West, noting that the two roads, initiated during his tenure as Governor of Osun State, will now be reconstructed with rigid pavement.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese projects will unlock economic opportunities, create jobs, and improve the transportation of agricultural produce and goods,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Honourable Minister of Works, Sen. Engr. David Umahi, said the roads are being built with continuously reinforced concrete pavement to last several decades with minimal maintenance.<\/p>\n
In a statement, the Director of Information and Public Relations, Mohammed A. Ahmed, said the scope of work includes site clearance, milling of existing asphalt, 100mm wet-crushed stone base, 200mm cement-stabilised base course, and 200mm CRCP for both carriageways and shoulders.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor those questioning government borrowing, this is the answer. The funds are being invested to revive strategic road projects abandoned for decades,\u201d Sen. Umahi stated. He assured timely completion and urged host communities to support the contractors.<\/p>\n
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Works, Mr. Rafiu Adeladan, and Chairmen of the Senate and House Committees on Works, Senator Allwell Onyesoh and Hon. Akin Alabi, reaffirmed commitment to funding and oversight.<\/p>\n
The contractors, Trucrete Solutions Limited and Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited, assured of delivery within specifications and timelines.<\/p>\n
Traditional rulers including the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, and the Alapomu of Apomu, Oba Kayode Adenekan Afolabi, commended the President for reviving the failed roads.<\/p>\n
The ceremony was attended by the Governors of Kogi and Edo States, Usman Ododo and Sen. Monday Okpebholo, members of the National Assembly and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
