Minister of State for Agric thanks President Tinubu, others over rescue of kidnapped victims in Kwara and Niger<\/p>\n
The Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Dr. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, has expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Governors of Niger and Kwara States, and Nigeria\u2019s security agencies for their swift and decisive efforts that led to the safe release of kidnapped victims in Kaiama and Borgu Local Government Areas.<\/p>\n
In a statement personally signed and issued on Saturday, the Minister said communities of Woro, Konkonso, Pissa and Kasuwan Daji in Kwara and Niger States were thrown into grief and fear following the abduction of innocent citizens by criminal elements in recent weeks.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday, we are filled with joy and relief as, through the coordinated efforts of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, and local vigilante groups, under the directive and support of the Presidency and the Niger and Kwara States Governments, our people have been reunited with their families,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
Senator Abdullahi specifically thanked President Tinubu for his \u201cpersonal and fatherly concern, directive to security agencies, and commitment to ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind,\u201d adding that the President\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda is being felt in rural communities.<\/p>\n
He also commended the Governor of Niger State, Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, and the Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for their prompt intervention, logistics support to security operations, and continuous engagement with community leaders in Borgu and border communities.<\/p>\n
The Minister further appreciated the Hon. Ministers of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, and all security personnel \u201cfor their bravery, professionalism, and sacrifices in the bush, often at great risk to their own lives, to secure the release of our people without further harm.\u201d<\/p>\n
He noted that to reinforce security in the strategic border area, the Federal Government has approved the establishment of a new 29 Brigade in Kainji-New Bussa under 9 Division, Ilorin, covering Kwara and Niger States. This is in addition to Operation Savannah Shield designed to secure areas exploited by criminal elements.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe safe return of our brothers and sisters from Woro, Konkonso, Pissa and Kasuwan Daji is proof that when government and security agencies work together with communities, criminality will not prevail,\u201d the Minister said.`<\/p>\n
Senator Abdullahi also acknowledged the roles of traditional rulers, religious leaders, and citizens who offered prayers and support during the period.`<\/p>\n
He pledged the continued cooperation of the communities with government and security agencies through timely information sharing and support for initiatives aimed at lasting peace and security in Kaiama, Borgu, and across border areas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
