Police Arrest 16-Year-Old for Allegedly Stabbing 20-Year-Old to Death in Cross River<\/p>\n
The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a 16-year-old boy for allegedly stabbing a 20-year-old man, Uwem Daniel Akpan, to death in the Akamkpa Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n
The command\u2019s Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Tuesday and made available to journalists in Calabar.<\/p>\n
According to the statement, the incident occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 31, 2026, following a misunderstanding at Peters Street, Awi community, in Akamkpa LGA.<\/p>\n
The PPRO said the victim was rushed to the Naval Reference Hospital, Calabar, where he was confirmed dead. His remains were later recovered by family members.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Cross River State Police Command has commenced investigation into the death of a 20-year-old male, Uwem Daniel Akpan, who was allegedly stabbed during a misunderstanding at Peters Street, Awi, Cross River on 31 August, 2026,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n
\u201cA 16-year-old male suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in police custody. The Command is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and the alleged involvement of the suspect,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n
According to the statement, the case is being processed for transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Calabar for further investigation and appropriate legal action in accordance with the law.<\/p>\n
ASP Eitokpah urged members of the public to remain calm and refrain from taking the law into their own hands, assuring that the incident would be thoroughly investigated.<\/p>\n
