Troops Rescue 22 Kidnapped Victims in Niger Community<\/p>\n
The Nigerian Army has rescued 22 kidnapped victims in Muchiya village, Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.<\/p>\n
The rescue operation was carried out on September 15 by troops of the 18 Brigade Garrison and personnel of the 45 Battalion following credible intelligence on the convergence of terrorists in the area.<\/p>\n
The feat was disclosed in a statement shared on X on Wednesday by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 18 Brigade, Captain Adebayo Adewumi.<\/p>\n
According to Adewumi, the terrorists fled into the surrounding forest after sighting the advancing troops.<\/p>\n
He disclosed that troops sustained pursuit along their escape routes, leading to the rescue of 22 victims and the recovery of three motorcycles and other items abandoned by the fleeing criminals.<\/p>\n
All rescued victims have been handed over to the leadership of the Muchiya community and have since been reunited with their families.<\/p>\n
One of the victims, Alhaji Hassan, who sustained injury while in captivity, was promptly evacuated to a clinic and is responding to treatment.<\/p>\n
The Commander, 18 Brigade, commended the troops for their “resilience, gallantry, and doggedness” and urged them to maintain the momentum to ensure continuous domination of the area.<\/p>\n
He reassured residents of Muchiya and adjoining communities of the Brigade’s commitment to protecting lives and property, while urging them to provide timely and credible information on the activities of criminal elements.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
