FCSC Pledges Staff Welfare-Centred Reforms at 45th Civil Service Council in Asaba<\/p>\n
The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has called on Civil Service Commissions across the Federation to adopt practical, homegrown solutions to emerging challenges in public administration, with staff welfare at the centre of reforms.<\/p>\n
The Director Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, FCSC, Dahiru Lawal, made the call on Monday while declaring open the Technical Session of the 45th National Council of the Civil Service Commissions of the Federation in Asaba, Delta State.<\/p>\n
Lawal said the Technical Session provides a critical platform for Chairmen and Members of Federal, State and FCT Commissions to share experiences and craft practical recommendations that will strengthen personnel administration and service delivery nationwide.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the theme, \u201cTowards a Future-Ready Civil Service \u2013 The Role of Institutional Re-engineering, Reputation Management and Civil Service Commissions in Nigeria,\u201d he said rapid technological change, rising public expectations and demand for transparency require a professional, adaptable and results-oriented Civil Service.<\/p>\n
He stressed that reforms must go beyond deployment of technology to address the human dimension of the Service, according to a statement by the Commission’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ibraheem Zakariyya<\/p>\n
\u201cStaff welfare, motivation, capacity development and support must be integral to reforms. A motivated workforce is key to effectiveness,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
On institutional re-engineering, Lawal called for a review of existing procedures, stronger internal controls, simplified processes and digital solutions to improve recruitment, promotion and records management, while upholding merit, fairness, transparency and due process.<\/p>\n
Speaking on reputation management, he said credibility is built through fairness, consistency and timeliness of decisions, not just publicity, adding that Commissions must improve stakeholder engagement, complaint-resolution and professional communication.<\/p>\n
Lawal urged participants to share both successes and challenges openly to enable realistic solutions, and charged the Session to produce evidence-based, actionable recommendations with clear responsibilities, measurable indicators and monitoring mechanisms.<\/p>\n
He further emphasized ethical leadership, accountability and intergovernmental collaboration as vital to strengthening integrity and public confidence in the Civil Service.<\/p>\n
Lawal also thanked the Delta State Government and all Commissions for their commitment and expressed confidence that the Technical Session would lay a strong foundation for impactful resolutions at the 45th National Council.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
