    Abeokuta Youths Stage Low-Key Protest

A small group of determined youths gathered at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta on Thursday to participate in the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest.

Despite the planned nationwide demonstrations, the turnout in Abeokuta was significantly lower than anticipated. Protestors carried placards highlighting economic hardship and electoral concerns.

The Ogun State High Court on Wednesday had restricted the protest to four locations, including the MKO Stadium, and limited the time frame to between 8 am and 5 pm.

The four locations chosen for the protest are the MKO Stadium, Abeokuta; Ansar-ud-Deen Comprehensive High School, Ota; Remo Divisional High School, Sagamu; and Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu-Ode.

Security forces were heavily deployed to the stadium to maintain order and prevent any escalation.

Protestors expressed frustration with the government’s alleged intimidation tactics, claiming these efforts had discouraged wider public involvement.

They emphasized the need for citizens to actively demand accountability and good governance.

One protester Jacob Ochigbo attributed the low turnout to alleged government threats, but emphasized the importance of fighting for their rights. “We must make sacrifices for our children’s future,” he urged.
