Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has announced that Jack Grealish may miss the Premier League opener against Chelsea due to an injury concern.
Grealish sustained a knock during training before the Community Shield match against Manchester United and was left out of the Wembley fixture.
The England international is now doubtful for the upcoming game at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Guardiola noted that Grealish experienced discomfort for a couple of days, particularly on Friday, but reassured that it doesn’t appear to be a severe issue.
The manager emphasized the importance of caution to avoid further risk.
Guardiola mentioned that Grealish might be available for the match against Ipswich Town if not for Chelsea. The injury could potentially sideline him for up to a month if not managed properly.
In Grealish’s absence, Jeremy Doku and new £33 million acquisition Savinho are expected to compete for the left wing position.
