Power Minister Vows to Deliver Stable Electricity Supply Nationwide

Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of Power, has assured Nigerians of a reliable and sustainable power supply across the country. During an inspection visit to the Calabar power plant, he emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to reforming the power sector.

Adelabu stated that the government is working tirelessly to meet the increasing energy demands, ensuring stability and optimal power generation and distribution. He urged associates in the oil and gas sector to be proactive, as the government is determined to address issues in the sector effectively.

Adelabu emphasized that the power sector is critical to the government and national economy, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has tasked him with assessing power plants nationwide.

He expressed satisfaction with the Calabar Power Plant’s functionality, encouraging power installation and generation.

The privatization of the plant to the Cross River State government is underway, with the Federal Privatization Council and Federal Executive Council reviewing the proposal.

Cross River State Commissioner for Power and Energy, Prince Eka Williams, assured that the state government is capable of efficiently running the firm, given its expertise.

Managing Director Chiedu Ugbo reported that the firm is generating power to most of the South-South and South-East regions, but emphasized the need for more sub-transmission power stations. Ugbo expressed dissatisfaction with vandalism by citizens, calling on them to desist from such acts.
