The Lagos State government has launched a distribution initiative of 20,000 food packages intended to alleviate hardships.
The programme, starting at the Lagos State Auditorium in Alausa, Ikeja, is overseen by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
These packages, which include 10kg of rice, 5kg of beans, and 5kg of cassava flakes (garri), are being allocated to various religious groups.
Muslim communities will receive their share, while 10,000 packages will be distributed to Christian organizations.
The state’s efforts aim to support less-privileged residents, with distribution managed by local associations such as Community Development Associations and Committees.
“This palliative is an intervention to support the less-privileged in the society.
“It cuts across all sectors of the state. We came to the auditorium because we wanted a centralised location.
“It is important to note that the governor set up a Governor’s Advisory Council for this purpose,” Permanent secretary, home affairs, Adewunmi Ogunsanya said.
