Plateau Government To Shut Down Schools Over Malpractice

The Plateau State government has announced plans to close schools found guilty of engaging in examination malpractice.

This decision was revealed by the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mohammed Nyalun, during a speech at the graduation and prize-giving ceremony of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) Staff School in Jos.

Represented by Dalyop Pam from the Jos South Area Education Directorate, the commissioner emphasized that examination malpractice contributes significantly to the declining quality of education in the state.

He stressed that such dishonest practices not only undermine the efforts of schools adhering to proper standards but also jeopardize the future of students involved.

The government reiterated its commitment to upholding educational integrity and warned that any school found participating in these unethical activities would face closure.

Nyalun urged parents not to encourage their children to engage in such practices, as the results obtained through malpractice are indefensible.

At the same event, the chairman of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of ITF Staff School, Yahaya Musa, commended the school’s management for their unwavering commitment to creating an exceptional learning environment.

He praised the teachers for their dedication and the positive impact they have had on the students’ lives, helping them to become responsible citizens.

The head boy, Joshua Adam, expressed gratitude to the school for shaping their character and preparing them for further education, while head girl, Rahama Musa, highlighted the lifelong value of the knowledge and experiences gained at the school.

The ceremony also included the launch of the school magazine and the presentation of awards to outstanding students.
