Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has announced ongoing efforts to enhance electricity generation within the state.

These initiatives were unveiled during the launch of the Obokun 33KV Feeder Line in Osunjela, Ilesa West LGA.

The governor highlighted that Osun State has developed a draft electricity bill and policy aimed at expanding power generation and distribution.

Adeleke also commended the completion and relocation of the feeder line project, which had been abandoned for 11 years.

This project is set to address power supply challenges in four local government areas.

The governor said that the state plans to issue licenses to capable electricity generators and regulate the activities of the Ibadan Distribution Company.

He further noted that a regulatory agency will be established to oversee the state’s power sector, with a focus on ensuring sustainable outcomes through stakeholder involvement.

Adeleke reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to making Osun a leader in electricity generation and distribution, with the goal of achieving self-sufficiency in power supply and even exporting electricity to neighboring states.

Commissioner for Energy, Festus Adeyemo, also provided insights into the history of the feeder line project, noting that it was initially awarded in January 2013 but was later abandoned due to funding challenges.
